As an artist and designer myself, I’ve wrestled with the difference between art and design, and this topic comes up frequently in the classes I teach.

PSU offers traditional studio-based MFA programs, but what sets it apart is its unique Art + Social Practice concentration, which socially engaged artist Harrell Fletcher instituted 10 years ago. “Social practice is a term that people now know, and there’s a kind of integration happening with studio-based practices,” he says.
